On August 26, a delegation of eight representatives from the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) visited the National Institute of Metrology, China (NIM). The two parties held a working meeting and signed the renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on technical cooperation. The MoU was signed by Dr. Li Wentao, President of NIM, and Mr. Zhang Chaohua, Director and Secretary-General of CNAS, marking the third time the two organizations have formalized this collaboration.
According to the renewed MoU, NIM and CNAS will continue to deepen their cooperation on international equivalence and mutual recognition of measurement results. The MoU also expands their partnership to support high-quality development, promote the construction of a unified national market, and drive the digital transformation of metrology and conformity assessment.
This renewal signifies a new chapter of stronger strategic alignment, deeper mutual trust, and more concrete actions as both organizations work together to advance internationalization and modernization in the fields of metrology and accreditation. It also aims to elevate the national quality infrastructure to higher standards.
NIM and CNAS have established significant influence and a strong foundation of international cooperation within global metrology and accreditation organizations. The two institutions first signed a Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation in February 2011, followed by a second renewal in June 2020 during the 13th World Accreditation Day. The current renewal marks the third signing of the MoU between the two organizations.
